Listen—the sun’s shining, the heat’s coming down and we’re all looking to have a marvelous time poolside! Whether we’ve packed a picnic for somewhere far from home, or we’ve got the entire stock of our kitchen just inside the patio doors, the end goal is the same. Delicious food, great company and ice-cold drinks!
It seems like we’re always trying to find the best way to keep our drinks as cold as possible. Coolers, ice, bottle koozies—the list goes on. But what if I said the way you were holding a beer was wrong this whole time?
How to Hold a Glass Bottle
Your first instinctive action when it comes to glass bottles is to hold it by the body, right? Wider base, better grip and sometimes it can just feel awkward holding a Coca-Cola bottle by the neck. But that’s exactly where our real problem lies. The neck is really where we should be holding our drinks.
When we hold our glass bottles by the bottom, our natural body heat causes the liquid to heat up faster than it normally would. So, how do we get around this without having to constantly cover up with a koozie? Simple. Grab your bottle by the neck! It may seem awkward at first, but holding a glass bottle by the neck will keep your drink colder for much longer. And we all need that when the sun’s outside blazing away.
The Colder, the Better!
Did you know that it’s very American to put ice in our drinks? It’s commonplace here—from homes to restaurants and trips to the beach. Keeping our beverages cold is very important to us.
But that’s not all! We love a good batch of delicious cold salads for when the weather starts to warm up. And who could go wrong with some amazing homemade ice cream? Anything to make a summer day a little cooler. Just remember to grab your bottle around the neck, and you’ll have a lovely summer season!
