On Tuesday, June 18, you can get a free Doritos Locos Taco between 2 and 6 p.m. local time. In case you aren’t aware, the Doritos Locos Taco is legitimately a taco shell made out of Doritos with seasoned beef, sour cream, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes. And it’s all for free.
So why have we been blessed with free tacos?
Now, why is this delicious taco free of charge? It actually has to do with the NBA finals. Taco Bell decided to host a promotion for the NBA Finals called “Steal a game, steal a taco.” This meant that one of the teams (either the Golden State Warriors or the Toronto Raptors) had to try and win a game away from their home, hence the phrase “steal a game.” If they succeeded, Taco Bell would hand out free tacos. Hurray!
Lucky for all of us Taco Bell fans, the Golden State Warriors won in Toronto in game two on June 2. Thanks to the Warriors, Taco Bell is about to put their delicious plan into action. This means the entire nation (even us non-committal basketball fans) can enjoy a delicious free taco.

Where can I get one?
Well, Taco Bell, but not any Taco Bell. Only participating Taco Bell locations will be involved with this free Doritos Locos Taco event. Although the full list of locations isn’t public, it sounds like there won’t be much of a problem getting a free taco that day. Whereas last year the promotion was only for those within the United States, this year Canada will be getting a taste of this savory deal, too, since the Toronto Raptors are (obviously) Canadian. So if you’re in the U.S. or Canada on June 18, dribble over to Taco Bell and get yourself a free snack!
