This New Coke Flavor Is Basically a Creamsicle in a Can

Who doesn’t love a Creamsicle? The fruity, creamy bar brilliantly bathes the soft sweetness of vanilla ice cream with the citrus-y zing of orange sherbet, making the treat taste like summer on a stick. Last spring, we got to enjoy the iconic flavor in white-chocolate-enrobed M&M’s (here’s what we thought when we tried them). And now, Coca-Cola is bringing that flavor to us in our favorite soda!

Psst! These are the best regional sodas in every state.

Introducing Orange Vanilla Coke

The new Orange Vanilla Coke (and its zero-sugar version) will hit stores nationwide on February 25. And it’s not just the Creamsicle taste that has us so excited. It’s also the first new flavor Coca-Cola has introduced in the U.S. in over a decade.

And yes, Coca-Cola, we have been waiting! So thank you from the bottom of our glasses!

Why such a long wait?

The brand director for Coca-Cola, Kate Carpenter, explained that other Coke flavors, particularly Cherry Coke and Vanilla Coke, have been making a “splash” on the market in recent years, but flavored soda fans were hankering for more options. “We knew we had an opportunity to give fans the variety they crave without sacrificing the Coca-Cola taste they love,” Carpenter said.

Although the folks at Coke considered several flavors—including raspberry, lemon and ginger—the orange + vanilla combo edged out the others in focus group tests. Since Coca-Cola aims to please, they went straight to test-launching Coke Orange No Sugar in Australia and Coke Orange Vanilla in Canada, with each launch receiving rave reviews.

Where to find Orange Vanilla Coca-Cola

Orange Vanilla Coke and Orange Vanilla Coke Zero Sugar will be available in 12-oz. cans and 20-oz. bottles in retail stores nationwide starting February 25. You’ll also find them at Wendy’s restaurants in Coca-Cola Freestyle fountain dispensers through the end of the NCAA March Madness basketball tournament. After that, the soft drink will roll out nationally to all Freestyle units.
