How to Make Greek Yogurt Pizza Dough
To make this delicious pizza, you will need just a few key ingredients:
- Two-ingredient dough: Made from a mixture of Greek yogurt and self-rising flour, this super simple dough is used to form the pizza crust.
- Tomato sauce: This can be plain tomato sauce or any kind of pizza sauce you like. Mozzarella cheese. Thanks to its light and creamy texture, mozzarella is easily the most popular pizza cheese and my personal favorite. I like to use the low-fat kind to lighten it up a bit.
- Toppings: Who doesn’t love a classic pepperoni pizza? For a healthier take on this classic dish, I prefer turkey pepperoni. However, you can use regular pepperoni or leave the pepperoni out altogether for a vegetarian pizza. You can also top with anything you love on pizza - peppers, onions, pineapple, ham, mushrooms, basil, garlic - it all works!
What is Two-Ingredient Dough?
Two-ingredient dough is one of my very best friends in the kitchen. It makes my life so much easier and helps to eliminate the need for a mile-long grocery list. The dough is, as the name would suggest, made from two ingredients: Greek yogurt and self-rising flour.
Self-rising flour is a fancy name for regular all-purpose flour with baking powder and salt already mixed in. When combined with rich and creamy Greek yogurt, the result is a dough that can be used to make a number of baked goods like bagels, donuts, pretzels, and pizza dough.
You can find self-rising dough in most grocery stores, but if for some reason you can’t find it, it’s super easy to make from scratch. Simply combine the following ingredients:
- 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
How does two ingredient pizza dough work?
The magic behind two-ingredient dough comes from baking powder and yogurt. The baking powder in the self-rising flour helps the dough to rise quickly, without needing to rest or rise. The yogurt makes the dough pliable and soft, which makes it easy for rolling into pizza dough, bagels, breadsticks, and rolls.

Is this the same as Weight Watchers pizza dough?
Many people also refer to this as Weight Watchers® pizza dough since it was very popular with folks on the diet since it is significantly lower in points than traditional pizza dough. This is also called greek yogurt pizza dough in many circles since it is made with Greek yogurt instead of yeast.
For those on WW®, there are 17 Green, 15 Blue, and 15 Purple Smartpoints™ for the whole entire crust without toppings. Then you can adjust the points based on what you add.
Frequently Asked Questions
Below you will find the answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about homemade pizza:
What are good toppings for 2 ingredient pizza dough?
I think the better question here would be, what ISN’T a good topping for homemade pizza? Seriously, the options are endless. Any kind of veggies, cheeses, meats, fruits, and nuts can be added to a pizza. Just make sure that the various toppings you choose work well together. For example, figs and tomato sauce might be a little weird, but figs and goat cheese would be phenomenal.
What cheese is best for homemade pizza?
Mozzarella is widely believed to be the best cheese for pizza because its light and creamy texture melt beautifully and the mild flavor pairs really well with common pizza toppings and sauces. Other cheeses are often paired with mozzarella; like parmesan, pecorino-romano, ricotta, and provolone.
What can I add to Greek yogurt pizza dough for flavor?
For a more flavorful dough, feel free to add seasonings like Italian seasoning, garlic powder, or black pepper. Another great way to add both color and flavor would be to spread some butter over the outside of the crust.
Can you freeze 2 ingredient dough?
This homemade pizza dough doesn't freeze well and should be used within 1-2 days of making the dough. If the pizza dough is cooked, it can be stored in the freezer for 4-6 months.
Can you use a different type of flour to make two ingredient dough?
Unfortunately, you need to stick to traditional self-rising flour for this recipe. Alternative flours including almond flour, cassava flour, coconut flour, and chickpea flour will not work.
Can I use different types of yogurt?
After testing with regular plain yogurt, Greek yogurt works much better. It is thicker and gives the flour the right texture. Plain yogurt is too thin to form a nice, pliable dough.
