McDonald’s Might Be Closing Its Indoor Dining Rooms Again

The COVID-19 pandemic hit restaurants hard, and even chains didn’t escape its effects. From Starbucks closing dozens of stores, to McDonald’s closing hundreds of restaurants, establishments across the country were hit hard in 2020 and 2021 by the pandemic.

Now, with the rise of the delta variant, McDonald’s is once again considering taking steps to keep customers and staff safe. The fast-food giant hasn’t made any official announcements yet, but they’re considering closing indoor dining again.

Are McDonald’s Dining Rooms Open?

For now, the fast-food chain’s indoor dining is still open, though the mask mandate has been reinstated in areas with high rates of COVID-19. While the chain hasn’t officially made any plans to close dining rooms yet, McDonald’s executives recommend that franchisees close down indoor dining for counties where cases have passed 250 per 100,000 people on a rolling three-week average.

With COVID cases going up and down across the country, this may or may not affect your local McDonald’s.

What If McDonald’s Shuts Down Indoor Dining?

If your McD’s decides to close indoor dining rooms for safety reasons, you’ll still be able to get your hands on those unreasonably good McDonald’s fries. You can always order from fast-food restaurants online, and opt for carryout or delivery, or place a drive-thru order.

Your McDonald’s drive-thru experience will be changing soon, so it might be even faster to get your Mickey D’s fix safely.
