Frito-Lay Potato Chips Recall Just Hit at Least 9 States

Frito-Lay has been on a roll lately, dropping a trio of new Lay’s flavors and mashing up two of its iconic brands.

Unfortunately, even the most beloved brands make mistakes, and Frito-Lay has issued a recall for Ruffles All Dressed Flavored Potato Chips. This affects product at Sam’s Club stores in at least nine states so far.

Why Are Ruffles Chips Being Recalled?

According to the FDA, 16 1/8-ounce packages of the All Dressed Flavored Potato Chips distributed to certain Sam’s Club warehouses contain undeclared milk ingredients. It was discovered that certain bags of Ruffles All Dressed Potato Chips were accidentally filled with another flavor of potato chips, potentially exposing consumers to an undeclared milk allergen. This could pose a risk for anyone who’s sensitive or allergic to milk.

No other Ruffles products, sizes, or flavors have been recalled—it’s only the Ruffles All Dressed Potato Chips. (If you’re not familiar, the “All Dressed” flavor is a sweet and tangy combination of flavors like salt and vinegar, barbecue and ketchup.) You can find the full FDA announcement here.

What States Are Affected?

This recall only affects 16 1/8-ounce packages of Ruffles All Dressed Potato Chips with both a “Guaranteed Fresh” date of 1 June 2021 and one of these 9-digit manufacturing codes:

  • 373205510
  • 473305610
  • 473105610

The recalled products were distributed to Sam’s Club locations in the following states:

  • Alabama
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Louisiana
  • Mississippi
  • North Carolina
  • South Carolina
  • Tennessee
  • Virginia

This recall app can help you keep track of products you might need to be wary of.

What Should I Do Next?

Luckily, there have been no reports of allergic reactions yet. But if your state is on the list, you recently bought a bag of Ruffles from Sam’s Club and you have a milk allergy, you should discard the packet immediately. You can also contact Frito-Lay Consumer Relations at 1-800-352-4477  from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST, Monday-Friday.

Until Ruffles chips are safe to buy again, you can find all kinds of dairy-free snacks on Amazon!
