It’s no secret that we’re fans of The Great British Baking Show, among other binge-worthy food shows on Netflix. Generally, cooking competitions are high-stress. But for some reason, it’s so soothing to watch bakers put their culinary minds to work in the kitchen. Not to mention, some of those recipes are great inspo for what we bake up at home—Martha’s Lemon and Thyme Mini Cakes, anyone?
Well, Disney Channel is dropping an all-new baking competition series with kids as the contestants!
What Can We Expect to See?
Disney’s Magic Bake-Off will feature teams of kids between the ages of six and 14, competing and working together to create magical sweet treats. For the baking competition, contestants will be paired into three teams of two, and will go head-to-head in creating a Disney-inspired cake before time runs out. Like similar cooking shows, the kids in the kitchen will have access to a full “enchanted pantry,” stocked high with all of the ingredients they need to create a show-stopping cake.
The brand-new show will be hosted by High School Musical: The Musical’s very own Dara Reneé, and Isaac Ryan Brown from Disney’s Raven’s Home. Joining them will be Disneyland Resort pastry chef Graciela Gomez, who knows a thing or two about sugary confections.
What’s in It for the Kids?
Back in 2018, Disney announced a partnership with Tastemade. At the end of 13 episodes, only one team will win and be crowned Disney Baking Champions, and this lucky duo—and their recipe—will star in their very own Tastemade video.
So, keep an eye out for Disney’s new show! It may air as early as this summer, but while you wait, you can try your hand at these copycat Disney movie recipes.
