There’s nothing we love more than a good TikTok hack. Life has been better since we’ve learned to store eggs the right way and the best way to clean a burnt pot. The latest trick we’ve come across is for anyone who’s ever needed small plastic bags, but only had the standard sizes at home.

How to Make Snack Bags

You can economically turn one resealable plastic bag into two by taking a hint from TikTok user @howdoesshe.

The process starts with a regular knife you might use to slice vegetables. You hold the knife over the flame of a gas burner for a few seconds to heat it up, then you lay the baggie on a cutting board and make a vertical slice down the middle. You’ll then have two narrow plastic bags and the heat from the blade will seal the edges. Just like that!

Sure, you could just buy small snack-size resealable plastic bags, but we like the resourcefulness of this hack. Why buy more stuff when you can repurpose what you already have?

The Perfect Snacks for Kids

These small bags are the perfect size for keeping snacks fresh on the go. The video shows them filled to the brim with fish crackers, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. If you need inspiration for filling your petite plastic bags, we have recipe collections that showcase healthy snacks for kids. Don’t forget that Granola Trail Mix and No-Bake Peanut Butter Treats are easy enough to whip up that kids can handle make ’em on their own. Snack on!
