The Burger King Logo Is Changing for the First Time in 20 Years

If you’re a fan of Burger King (no matter how scary the King looks with that big, plastic head), you should know some things will be changing at the restaurants. Most noticeably, the Burger King logo will have a brand-new look.

It’s a Whopper of a Change

Burger King has revealed a new logo for the first time in more than 20 years. Although the new logo isn’t tremendously different from the old one, you’ll notice that it is more minimalist. The burger-shaped logo features red “Burger King” lettering sandwiched between two toasty orange buns. The most noticeable difference is that they’ve left behind the big blue curve that’s outlined the logo since 1999.

What’s Old Is New

Interestingly, the new logo might not be so new after all. This retro-influenced logo is actually paying homage to the original logo that made the chain famous from 1969 to 1999 and symbolizes the burger giant’s focus on its food—specifically the Whopper. According to a press release, the rebrand reflects “recent improvements to taste and food quality, through the removal of colors, flavors, and preservatives from artificial sources from menu items.”

Love the Whopper? This is where it landed on our fast-food cheeseburger taste test.

Fresh New Look and Feel

Burger King’s makeover includes new employee uniforms, mixing “contemporary and comfortable styles” (like t-shirts and jackets) with modern graphics and brand colors also inspired by the Whopper: brown, orange, red and green, among others. But that’s not all…the redesigned food packaging includes “playful illustrations of ingredients” and adjectives that describe the food, like “tasty” and “juicy.”

You can expect to start seeing some of the new changes immediately in advertisements, signage and packaging. In fact, Burger King already changed their social media profile picture—so that makes it super official in our book.

See what state has the most Burger Kings in the country. Lucky!
