Some of us may not admit it, but we can’t deny our absolute excitement when it comes to Christmas traditions. Who doesn’t love a few gifts from loved ones to commemorate the end of another long year? And while ripping open presents is thrilling, I’ve come to find that giving gifts is the best part of the season.
That’s why I love the idea of this Grinch bread so much! It’s festive, crafty and clearly made with love. How can you not want to wrap up a handmade loaf of bread for the holidays? It’s genius! Let’s take a look at how it’s done, shall we?
How to Make Grinch Bread
These videos comes from TikTok user @cottageloaves. You can start with a recipe for sourdough bread like this.
In the video, this baker starts with the soft ball of dough. To map out the Grinch’s features, they use a razor to score the dough and give his face clear definition. It looks so easy here, but if you need to use a stencil or a reference, don’t feel bad! It’s all about the process, right?
Once that Grinchy face is up to your standards, that’s where the fun begins. You can use food coloring and some paint brushes to color in the Grinch’s face. You’ll need green, yellow and black for sure, and if you’re feeling ambitious, you can even attempt a red Santa hat on top of the grumpy guy!

The last step is to create slits around the portrait that allow the bread to breathe.
What to Do with Your Loaf
As a lovely act of kindness, @cottageloaves wraps the finished product in a bag for the neighbors. It almost makes you wish you were the neighbor, right?

The particular loaf in the video is a rosemary sourdough, but you can use any recipe you want! A loaf of bread seems like a truly wonderful gift to me.
