Whether you make a batch of Dole whip using the recipe Disney released earlier this year or head straight to the Magic Kingdom, everyone can agree that the frosty pineapple flavors of Dole whip are iconic.
Now, we’re hearing about a Dole whip that’s served in a pineapple and spiked with coconut rum. We’re sold!
Tell Me More About This Dole Whip!
This discovery comes courtesy of Disney Food Blog. The latest addition to the Dole whip family is officially called the Lapu Hula and was spotted at Pineapple Lanai at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and Spa. Words don’t fully capture the splendor of this fruity drink.
To start, it’s served in an entire pineapple with the top cut off. Next, the shell gets filled with creamy, chilled Dole whip. It’s served at the Polynesian Village Resort and Spa, so it wouldn’t be perfectly tiki without a shot of coconut rum on the side.
Here’s a closer look at the Lapa Hula:

The Lapu Hula is around $14.25, which isn’t a bad deal at all for refreshment that fills an entire pineapple and can easily be shared by two people.
How Can I Get One?
If you really want to get your hands on this inventive cocktail, you’re going to have to pay a visit to Disney. We know that’s probably not going to be a reality for many people this year, but making Dole Whip at home is surprisingly easy—all you need is frozen pineapple, a little juice, powdered sugar and a blender. For a true Lapu Hula facsimile, spring for a whole pineapple, and don’t forget the coconut rum!
