Netflix Is Raising Their Prices Again—Here’s How Much Your Subscription Will Cost You

Streaming services have become a way of life for so many of us—especially this year when we’ve been hunkered down at home more than usual. It’s our digital lifeline to entertainment, whether that means Hollywood blockbusters or escapist programs to take our minds off of the daily grind. We even found secret Netflix codes to make watching our favorite genres a little easier!

Netflix is one of the most popular services, and the streaming giant has decided to up their prices one more time. Sad face emoji.

Netflix Price Hike Details

As of last week, Netflix announced they’ll be raising the prices on two of the three subscription tiers in the US.  That means the standard plan now costs $13.99 per month and the premium tier inched up to $17.99 a month. If you recall, the last time Netflix raised prices wasn’t that long ago—it was in January 2019.

The standard plan is the most common subscription in the US, so the $1 price hike is likely to affect a whole lot of customers. The premium plan, which comes with 4K video and allows streaming to four devices went up $2, from $15.99. Luckily, the basic plan is untouched (for now) and will remain at $8.99 per month.

While we’re understanding of the upcharge, we are a little bummed about it. Disney+ made streaming a little more challenging earlier this year, too, by doing away with free trials. (Let’s just hope Netflix hangs onto theirs.)

Is Netflix Still Worth It?

While we’re not sure when the price hike will go into effect, keep an eye on your Netflix bill. Investors are banking on higher prices by the end of 2020 or the beginning of 2021, according to CNET. Even though steadily rising prices are a bummer, Netflix is still a great deal for all of the content you get.

We’re faithful to Netflix through and through! Where else are we going to catch up on true crime and Christmas movies? (Holidate or Dolly Parton’s Christmas on the Square, anyone?)
