McDonald’s Just Announced They’re Going to Fix All of Their Ice Cream Machines

McDonald’s is most peoples’ number one go-to when it comes to reliable fast food. It’s hard not to crave McDonald’s every now and then—between the new bakery items and Big Macs, there’s nothing that quite scratches the itch like a stroll through the golden arches. But if you’re like us and also have a craving for McDonald’s ice cream, you’re probably well aware that putting in an order for your favorite McFlurry may serve up disappointment instead.

The days of canceled orders are long gone. According to a new report by Business Insider, McDonald’s has a plan to fix all of their broken ice cream machines nationwide. This is the best news you’ll hear all week!

No More Broken Machines

During a meeting of the National Owners Association, everyone’s favorite red and yellow franchise announced their plans to find solutions to the dreaded ice cream machine problem. The broken machines have become somewhat of a running joke on the internet, and even McDonald’s has poked fun at the issue on their own social media accounts.

Tyler Gamble, the franchisee leader who addressed the broken machines at the National Owners Association meeting, added that he wanted to “ensure that McDonald’s is no longer the butt of the joke, even with their own social media team.”

When Will They Be Fixed for Good?

Right now, there’s no telling when McDonald’s soft serve ice cream machines will be fixed, but an educated guess is that it might be in the next year or two. How McDonald’s is going to confront the issue is left up to debate. There are reasons to believe the machines may not technically be broken—instead, they are just complex and can take up to four hours to clean, which encourages employees to shut them down early during busy shifts. It’s likely McDonald’s will set out to replace the machines altogether, though that’s just speculation for the time being.

No matter how you spin it, this is good news for McDonald’s! As much as we love the gag, we love an Oreo McFlurry a whole lot more.
