The Hocus Pocus Cast Is Reuniting For a Halloween Event, and We Need a Calming Circle

Ah, October. There’s a chilly breeze in the air, everything is pumpkin-spice flavored and it’s time to break out your favorite spooky movies. For many of us, that includes 1993’s absolutely iconic Hocus Pocus. If you’re not familiar, the film’s plot involves kids and teens battling against the Sanderson witches—played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy—who rise from the dead on Halloween and enact a plan to sacrifice children to reclaim their youth. It’s hilarious. It’s heartwarming. It’s not spooky season without it (oh, and it’s getting a sequel!).

Now, the trio of Sandersons is reuniting for a special Halloween event, and there’s really no way for us to stay calm about this. Here’s what to expect and when to tune in.

It’s Part of a Fundraiser

This news has our hearts running amuck! Amuck! Amuck, amuck, amuck! The reunion event is part of Midler’s annual Hulaween fundraiser, which supports the New York Restoration Project. It typically occurs in costume gala form, but, well, 2020’s not really conducive to that type of thing. This year, Hulaween will be virtual; and the shindig is called “In Search of the Sanderson Sisters: A Hocus Pocus Hulaween Takeover.”

You won’t need to light a black flame candle to enter, but you will need to pre-register. $10 gets you a personalized link to the hour-long event on October 30, and you can reserve your space now. If you’re in search of more Sanderson-related goodies, you can check out the New York Restoration Project’s Hocus Pocus gift items, which include “poison apples,” T-shirts and, of course, that iconic “boooooooooook!”

Here’s How to Celebrate

Whether you’re “attending” the event by yourself or planning a socially distanced gathering, there are plenty of ways to incorporate the world of this Halloween classic into your home. You could always head to your local Starbucks for a witchy Frappucino, whip up a Hocus-Pocus sherbert potion or indulge in Hocus Pocus-themed wines.
