Ah, summer… the season of frozen treats, charcoal grills and, of course, burgers. If you thought you loved Disney food before, the company’s post about burgers just might make you drool. The official Disney Parks Blog posted images of 18 (!) different burgers from Disney parks around the world.
Highlights include the Shanghai Avengers Wagyu Beef burger, which features a red bun emblazoned with the Avengers logo, a “Dark Side Burger” from Disneyland Paris with a black bun and a Green Tea Cheeseburger from Hong Kong Disneyland.
But there’s more: Disney shared its recipe for Hawaiian Cheeseburgers!
How to Make Hawaiian Cheeseburgers
Seriously, how many more recipes can Disney provide? They’ve already given us French toast, churros, Dole whip and more. Now, they’re helping us with our summer cookouts, and we’re very thankful. Read on for Disney’s recipe, which makes six Hawaiian Cheeseburgers.
Ingredients
FOR THE TERIYAKI SAUCE
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1/4 teaspoon cold water
- 1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper
FOR THE BURGERS
- 12 pieces bacon
- 6 fresh pineapple rings
- Coarse salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 2 pounds lean ground beef, shaped into 6 equal patties
- 6 whole-grain hamburger buns, lightly toasted
- 6 slices Havarti cheese
- 6 pieces iceberg lettuce
- 6 slices ripe tomato
Instructions
Step 1: Make the teriyaki sauce
This is the most labor-intensive part of the recipe, but so worth it. In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar and soy sauce over medium heat. In a separate bowl, stir cornstarch and water until cornstarch dissolves. Then, add the cornstarch mixture to the soy sauce mixture; bring to a simmer then reduce heat to low. Cook for 5-10 minutes, or until thickened.
Remove the pan from your stovetop, but cover the sauce to keep it warm.
Step 2: Cook the bacon and pineapple
In a saute pan, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp, then set aside on a plate lined with paper towels. (You can also bake the bacon, for a more hands-off approach.) Season pineapple with salt and pepper on both sides to taste, then sear it on the grill or in a saute pan over medium heat for about three to five minutes.
Step 3: Grill the hamburgers
Season both sides of the hamburger patties with salt and pepper to taste, then cook on a grill or in a saute pan over medium-high heat. Just before your burgers are done, place a slice of cheese atop each patty to allow it to melt.
Step 4: Put it all together
On the bottom half of the buns, place the lettuce and top it with a slice of tomato. Season with salt and pepper, then place the burger patty on top. Drizzle the patty with teriyaki sauce, then finish up by adding the top half of the bun.
It’s time for burgers! Serve with our favorite frozen or homemade fries.
