We’ve certainly had fun making all of the Disney park food at home, like churros, Dole whip and Mickey pretzels. We’ve even been taking virtual Disney rides. It looks like all our waiting finally paid off: Disney Springs has an official open date!
That’s right, guests will soon be allowed back at Disney’s popular shopping and restaurant district.
What’s the Plan?
According to a post on the Disney Parks Blog, Disney Springs will begin a “phased re-opening” on May 20.
“Following the guidance of government and health officials, a limited number of shopping and dining experiences that are owned by third-party operating participants will begin to open during this initial phase,” says vice president Matt Simon. However, he adds that “the rest of Walt Disney World Resort will remain closed, including theme parks and resort hotels.”
What Will Be Different at Disney?
During the initial opening phase, Disney Springs will impose limits on capacity, parking and operating hours. The reopening plan also includes enhanced safety measures like more stringent cleaning procedures, required face coverings by both cast members and guests, limited-contact guest services and additional safety training for cast members.
It may be some time before all of the Disney parks reopen, though the Shanghai park resumed operations this week “with controlled capacity.”
We All Need a Little Patience
It might be some time before it’s business as usual at supermarkets and restaurants. But we’ve been seeing some hopeful signs of life. Starbucks, which switched to to-go orders only and shut down some of their stores in highly trafficked locations, announced the tentative reopen date of June for those closed locations.
In the meantime, there’s no reason to not keep enjoying Disney parks copycat recipes at home!
