In case there was ever any doubt, Disney has proven it’s the absolute best during these stay-at-home days. The company is really doing its best to give fans ways to keep busy—they’ve released a ton of beloved recipes from the parks.
We’ve already tried our hand at making Dole whip, churros and French toast. Now, Mickey and friends are inviting us to make Mickey Mouse beignets.
This Is Fluffy, Fried Goodness
This beignet recipe comes straight from the Disney Parks blog. It originates from New Orleans Square and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort, which is probably why the blog says it’s a perfect treat to enjoy while watching The Princess and the Frog.
We’re so excited to try these that we’re practically drooling. Sure, they’re not the healthiest snack, but everybody knows that calories consumed in quarantine don’t count, right? Right.

Instructions
Step 1: Make the dough
Sprinkle the yeast over warm water in a small bowl, stirring to dissolve. Let stand for 5 minutes. (This process is called proofing.)
Combine the sugar, shortening, salt, heavy cream, egg, flour and boiling water in a large bowl. Then, stir in yeast mixture. With the dough hook attachment of your stand mixer, mix the dough on medium speed just until combined and smooth. Let dough rest for 30 minutes.
Editor’s Tip: Parents, your kids can help with this recipe! Let ’em measure and add dry ingredients.
Step 2: Mold your Mickeys
Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness and cut individual beignets with a Mickey Mouse-shaped cutter like this. (You can also cut the dough into 2-1/2 to 3-inch squares.) Cover with a towel and let dough rise until doubled in size, about 1 to 1-1/2 hours.
Use this time to see how Disney fans are recreating park rides at home!
Step 3: Time to fry
To keep the kitchen safe, take a look at our guide on how to deep fry at home.
Then, heat 3 inches of vegetable oil to 350° F in a deep, heavy pot over medium-high heat. Fry beignets until golden brown, about 2 to 3 minutes on each side. Remove with tongs and place on paper towels to drain.
Dust warm beignets with powdered sugar and serve ASAP!
