Disney JUST Shared Its Famous Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana French Toast Recipe

If you’re anything like the rest of us, the past few weeks have seen you spending more time in your kitchen than usual. With extra time on our hands, we’ve been trying out new recipes and eating at home quite a bit. Like, a lot.

Thankfully, Disney’s helping us bring their wonderful world into our own homes. Over the past few weeks, the brand’s blog has been sharing recipes from the theme parks; we’ve already gotten Dole whip, three-cheese grilled cheese and churros. Now, it’s released another treat to brighten our days in quarantine—chocolate peanut butter banana French toast.

It’s a Taste of Paradise

Talk about magical comfort food! This concoction hails from the Paradise Pier Hotel in Anaheim, where it was one of many recipes rotating in and out on a seasonal basis. Paradise Pier had been the only place you could taste it… until now.

The Disney blog said this recipe tastes like paradise, and we totally agree. Best of all, it’s super easy, so it’s great for family time—or work-from-home mornings when you’ve whacked the snooze button too many times.

How to Make Disney’s French Toast

We have the Disney Parks blog to thank for this dreamy breakfast treat. This recipe serves a family of four!

Ingredients

  • 8 thick slices day-old challah bread
  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 6 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 3/4 cup low-fat chocolate milk
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Chocolate syrup and powdered sugar, optional

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare to cook

Preheat your oven to 350º F. Then, coat a 9x13x2-inch baking pan with nonstick spray. (The Test Kitchen at Taste of Home is a fan of PAM cooking spray.)

Step 2: Cut the bread and prep the ingredients

Cut bread into 1-inch cubes and place in a large bowl. Slice bananas into 1/2-inch slices, and then add to bowl. If you haven’t had this French Toast at Disney’s PCH Grill, it’s more like a bread pudding than traditional French toast.

Stir in chocolate chips.

Step 3: Combine the Ingredients

Then, combine peanut butter, eggs, chocolate milk, cinnamon and salt in a blender. Process until smooth. Pour the egg mixture from the blender over the bread cubes. Stir gently until bread cubes have absorbed egg mixture.

Step 4: Bake and serve

Pour mixture into prepared 9×13 baking pan. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. Before serving, drizzle with chocolate syrup and dust with powdered sugar, if desired.

We like the idea of serving this French toast bake with breakfast sausage and a fruit salad for brunch. Enjoy!
