Create Your Very Own Irish Tavern
If you don’t have the resources to hand-carve a mahogany bar or hire an Irish folk band, there are still ways to create that pub feel at home. Start with self-adhesive brick wall wallpaper ($10) to mimic a pub’s “snug,” where guests can cozy up and sip drinks. It wouldn’t hurt to display an impressive collection of the best Irish whiskeys, too.
Fun fact: Ireland may have the world’s oldest bar, Sean’s Bar, founded more than 1,000 years ago in 900 AD!
Add Pub-Inspired Decor
Stock up on these Celtic knot macrame coasters ($17) and Guinness pint glasses ($23). Next, commission a custom Irish pub metal sign ($19). Don’t forget to stock the refrigerator with Guinness and other classic Irish beers.
Send Themed Invitations
Why settle for a group text when you could mail St. Patrick’s Day invitations? We love the idea of sending ticket invitations or these Eat, Drink and Be Irish ones, both from Etsy. Guests will be happy to RSVP when these show up in their mailbox!
Serve Authentic Irish Eats
Traditional Irish cuisine can be best represented by lamb stew. This potpie rendition is party-ready. Bake a batch of Irish Soda Bread Muffins, too. Set them out with plenty of butter for slathering.
Make Guinness Floats for Dessert
What goes better with stout beer than ice cream and a thick drizzle of chocolate syrup? Whip up these Guinness Floats as a dessert drink (and swap the stout with root beer if there are kiddos in attendance).
Set out Golden Centerpieces
Every St. Patrick’s Day table needs its very own pot o’ gold. (Guests will feel extra lucky if you fill it with chocolate coins, $10.)
Set up a Photo Booth
In lieu of party games, set up a photo booth for social media-happy guests. Use a green sheet backdrop adorned with some green and gold paper medallions ($40) paired with some photo booth props ($5) from Etsy. You can invite people to snap some selfies—or supply a Polaroid instant camera ($90) and film so guests can take their pics home.
Send Guests Home with Good Luck
These four-leaf clover bracelets (from $4) will bring them good luck while these Pot of Gold treat bags ($5) will give them something yummy to munch on during the drive home. If you need something for the kids (or, you know, adults who like treats), check out this list of adorable shamrock-shaped treats.
