Italian
Zesty, spicy or with peppers and eggs, we love Italian sausages any time of day. They’re even great for breakfast casseroles. So binge-watch The Sopranos all over again with one of these recipes and a nice glass of dry red.
Kielbasa
Whether fresh or smoked, these Eastern European sausages are always yummy. Try the hearty Polish sausage in a casserole, skillet and, of course, with sauerkraut.
Chorizo
If you enjoy spice, there’s nothing quite like the firey Spanish chorizo sausage. Chorizo is traditionally seasoned with tangy vinegar, chili peppers and paprika. Rev up your tacos with crumbled chorizo, and a little queso fresco and cilantro on top. Your huevos rancheros will never be the same, either.
Andouille
Better known as the Cajun sausage, andouille doesn’t have to be reserved for gumbo or jambalaya only. Smoky and hot, this French sizzler with garlic rocks in stuffed peppers, stuffed pork loin and even stuffing!
Bratwurst
Say bratwurst, and visions of ballgames, summertime and well, Wisconsin spring to mind. This often beer-simmered wonder is popular in quite a few surprising recipes. Hailing from Germany, brats are great in soup and even as Bloody Mary garnishes.
Breakfast
You can’t get a much more satisfying breakfast than when savory sausages are on the table. You’re certainly not limited to links or patties on the side, though. And yes, you can even have it in addition to bacon.
Chicken
Sometimes you want your sausage, but you don’t want to be too indulgent. Chicken sausage is a great low-fat, low-calorie option to work into any of your meal ideas. Happily, many butchers now offer chicken sausage versions of all their popular pork varieties.
Turkey
Like the chicken sausage, turkey sausage offers a solid choice when you’re watching your calories. The best part is, it’s high in protein and low in sodium, too! Sustain yourself during the day with a Greek Sausage Pita for a gratifying energy boost.
