It took a year and a half to create the perfect recipe, and now soda giant PepsiCo is ready to launch Pepsi Cafe!
Some of you may remember Pepsi Kona, the brand’s take on coffee-infused cola back in 1996. The product’s sales, unfortunately, did not skyrocket. (Remember Crystal Pepsi, too?) But this time around, Pepsi believes it got the right recipe.
What does Pepsi Cafe taste like?
It seems to be a blend of Pepsi and iced coffee. So imagine sipping a tall, refreshing glass of ice-cold Pepsi—with a splash of nutty, aromatic Arabic coffee. This soda will be available in two flavors, original and vanilla. The vanilla Pepsi Cafe should have a sweet, refreshing taste that resembles flavored coffee drinks, and the original will be closer to rich black coffee.
This coffee-infused soda has almost double the amount of caffeine as original Pepsi. That should be enough to get you going in the morning and keep you going throughout the day.
And in case you were wondering, yes, Pepsi’s biggest competitor, Coca-Cola, has a similar product, Coca-Cola Plus Coffee. But it hasn’t hit U.S. stores…yet. Here’s the real difference between Pepsi and Coca-Cola.
When will Pepsi Cafe be available?
The soda-meets-coffee will hit shelves in all major U.S. retailers in April 2020, just in time for spring, aka iced coffee season! But this java-infused pop will only be around for a limited time, so get ’em while they’re in stock.
