How to Make Potato Chips in Your Air Fryer

Thanks to the air fryer, you can whip up guilt-free snacks in record speed. We love making air fryer recipes (especially in this one) because they strike the perfect balance of being healthy yet delicious. With only four simple ingredients, these crunchy homemade potato chips have not only found that balance, they’ve mastered it.

How to Make Air Fryer Potato Chips

This recipe was brought to us by Melissa Obernesser from Utica, New York. It yields about 6 servings per batch.

Ingredients

  • 2 large potatoes
  • Olive oil flavored cooking spray
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • Minced fresh parsley (optional)

Directions

Step 1: Start the air fryer

Preheat the air fryer to 360ºF.

Step 2: Prep the potatoes

Cut potatoes into paper-thin slices using a spiralizer, mandoline or vegetable peeler. Place the sliced potatoes into a large bowl and soak them in ice water for 15 minutes, then drain the water. Add ice water again and soak for an additional 15 minutes. After the final soak, drain the water and pat the potatoes dry with a towel.

Step 3: Fry ’em up!

Spritz both the potatoes and the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Sprinkle the potatoes with salt. Working in batches, create a single layer of potato slices in the air fryer basket. Cook the chips for 15-17 minutes, until crisp and golden brown, stirring and turning them every 5-7 minutes. Remove potatoes from the air fryer to cool. Repeat with remaining potatoes. Enjoy!

Test Kitchen tip: Sprinkle parsley on top to add a fresh finishing touch.
