This Is the Lemonade You Should Be Drinking This Summer

With so many new spiked drinks available for summer poolside sippin’, it can be tricky to pick the best beverage. And sometimes, you just want to get back to the basics. Luckily, there’s a new a-peal-ing hard beverage hitting Trader Joe’s locations now. It’s called Lemon Peal. And it’s what you’ll be drinking all season long.

While you’re there, pick up Trader Joe’s ready-made secco Bellinis for your next boozy brunch.

Introducing Trader Joe’s Lemon Peal

The popular grocer is ready to kick off the season with Campanology Lemon Peal, made from fresh lemon juice, cane sugar and a touch of citric acid for twang. However, this delicate drink is for adults only! The slightly fizzy beverage is spiked with a clear, 5.7% alcohol-by-volume brew base. Or, as Trader Joe’s describes it, “think vodka, but from malt.”

Not into lemonade? Head to Costco to pick up some hard cider.

What’s in a Name?

There’s more to the name than you’d probably think at first glance. Campanology means “the art or practice of bell-ringing,” while Lemon Peal refers to “a loud ringing of a bell.” And if you’ve ever been to a Trader Joe’s, you’ve likely heard the bells that go off at the cash register, adding yet another layer of meaning to the drink’s name.

(Here’s what the bells really mean, plus other secrets Trader Joe’s employees want you to know.)

Where Can I Find Lemon Peal?

This spiked lemonade is available in Trader Joe’s stores that sell beer. The six-packs of 12-ounce cans retail for between $6.99 and $9.99* depending on location.

  • $6.99 – California
  • $7.99 – All other states with Trader Joe’s
  • $8.99 – Alabama, Colorado, Georgia, Kentucky, Kansas, Maine, Michigan, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Tennessee
  • $9.99 – Florida, Idaho, Indiana
