How to Make Chocolate Glaze for Doughnuts

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 6 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Sprinkles, optional

Instructions

Step 1: Prep the sweet stuff

In a small saucepan, bring the whipping cream and corn syrup just to a boil. Then, while the cream and syrup are boiling, place the chocolate in a small, heat-proof bowl.

Step 2: Add the chocolate!

Once the cream and corn syrup are steadily bubbling, turn off the stove. Carefully pour the mixture over the chocolate. Add the vanilla extract. Stir with a whisk until smooth. Let the chocolate glaze cool for about 15 minutes or until the mixture thickens to a spreadable consistency.

Step 3: Time to glaze

To glaze the doughnuts, use an offset spatula (like this one) to spread a few teaspoons of icing over each fresh pastry. Finish with sprinkles, if desired.

You might end up with better doughnuts than the best doughnut shops in every state!
