Vegetarians will be happy to know that Costco’s deli has something new in stock, just in time for all of this summer’s cookouts. Look out for Costco vegan burgers!
You might remember another vegan burger that sold out at the warehouse last year. Over a two-month period, Don Lee Farms’ Organic Plant-Based Burgers were sold more than a million times at Costco. The latest vegan option is from Don Lee Farms, too, so there’s a good chance they’ll be just as popular.
What exactly is in the new vegan burgers?
The Organic Veggie Burgers and Organic Veggie Bites are “100% plant-based,” according to a Facebook post from Don Lee Farms. The company shared a photo of burgers made from sweet potato and sunflower seeds, so it sounds like those will be the prominent flavors. Don Lee Farms shared good news for those with other dietary restrictions, too: In addition to being vegan, the two new offerings are gluten-free.
Another health benefit is that, according to the packaging, each veggie burger patty will pack in ⅔ of a cup of vegetables. Of course, it’s not exactly a salad, but it’s still more than you’d get from a beef burger.
Looking for an easy way to serve the Costco vegan burgers? Plate ’em with a heap of crispy homemade fries and a fresh summer salad.
When will the vegan burgers be available at Costco?
Don Lee Farms’ post notes that the vegan burgers will replace its current veggie burgers at Costco this summer. The brand didn’t give an exact date, but you might want to keep an eye out next time you’re in the warehouse’s deli section. Judging by the company’s veggie burger popularity last year, these will probably sell out fast.
