A Few of Julie Andrews’ Favorite Foods

Mary Poppins, Julie Andrews

Julie Andrews is best known for her portrayal of Mary Poppins, Maria Von Trapp and Queen Clarisse. Discover some of her favorite foods, plus iconic foods from her most famous roles.

Raspberries

Raspberries

Growing up, Julie Andrews’ family had a small orchard full of juicy red raspberries. She recalls picking them off the bushes for a sweet little treat. How charming! If we had a raspberry bush in our yard, we’d make this raspberry coffee cake every week!

Tart Green Apples

Tart Green Apples

She loves a good Granny Smith apple, too. Maybe that’s how she kept her slim figure all these years. If we had a pile of Granny Smith’s, the first thing we’d do is bake them in this pie. It’s supercali-scrumptious!

Crisp Apple Strudel

Crisp Apple Strudel

Speaking of apples, we can’t think of Julie Andrews and The Sound of Music without daydreaming about crisp apple strudels. This was one of Maria Von Trapp’s favorite things, and maybe Julie developed a soft spot for them after playing that role.

And Schnitzel with Noodles

And Schnitzel with Noodles

Maria also sung about schnitzel with noodles. Whether it was a favorite of Julie’s or not, we don’t know, but this German comfort food sure sounds good to us!

Potatoes

Boiled Potato Sandwich

It might sound strange, but she loves boiled potato sandwiches. Yep, slices of potato slathered in butter and salt between two pieces of French bread. With a cup of tea, of course. She even likes swapping the boiled potato with French fries. We may just have to try that.

Baked Potatoes

Baked Potatoes

We should mention she loves potatoes, any way you slice ’em. One of her favorites is a baked potato loaded with spaghetti and meat sauce. Now, that sounds delicious. We wonder if she’d like our pepperoni pizza baked potato, too.

Lemons

Lemons

While performing in Camelot in New York, Julie remembers eating a memorable lemon-themed meal. From soup to souffle, everything had a touch of lemon. We could go for this lemon soup right about now. Or one of these lovely tart and sweet lemon recipes.

Artificial Sweeteners and Sugar Substitutes in metal spoon. Natural and synthetic sugarfree food additive: sorbitol, fructose, honey, Sucralose, Aspartame

A Spoonful of Sugar

Thanks to Mary Poppins, we all know that a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down. It also spruces up a cup of coffee or tea. Add a spoonful of sugar to our Lemon Thyme Green Tea for a calming afternoon treat.

Corn Dogs

Corn Dogs

Who could forget in The Princess Diaries when Queen Clarisse tries a corn dog for the first time? We’re not sure if that was Julie’s first time eating one or not, but it sure looked good!
