Make THIS Next Time You Get a Last-Minute Class Snack Request

If you have kids in school, you know that moment of panic when you get the note requesting a last-minute class snack. You can now make all the class snacks you’ll ever need in just 10 minutes with this recipe for Fat Pocky!

The Magic Snack

Inspired by an article from cult-favorite satirical site, The Onion, celebrity chef Adam Liaw set out to find a quick school snack that catered to every allergy.

He vowed to invent something that could be made in bulk and contained no dairy, nuts or eggs. That’s a pretty hefty feat to take on, but Chef Adam accepted the challenge and delivered to us his creation, Fat Pocky.

The treat is based on Pocky, a Japanese biscuit stick dipped in all kinds of flavored coatings, but most famously chocolate. (Psst! You can grab your own box here.)

It’s adorable and edible, and since it’s so easy to make, Fat Pocky is a great go-to when you find yourself pressed for time. Even if there’s no school occasion, these wacky treats are a great addition to even the pickiest eater’s lunch.

These are the smartest ways to pack a school lunch.

How to Make Fat Pocky

Fat Pocky is very simple and is a great treat to make with the little ones trying to swipe some off the counter. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 25 plain breadsticks
  • 375g dark chocolate
  • Sprinkles or any other topping you please
  • Cookie sheet
  • Wax paper

Step 1: Melt the Chocolate

Begin by melting your chocolate in a microwave-safe cup or mug. Heat through for 1 minute, stir, then heat in 30-second bursts, still stirring, until the chocolate is runny. According to Adam, this should take no longer than 3-4 minutes.

Step 2: Dunk the Breadsticks

Cover a cookie sheet with wax paper. Dunk one end of the breadstick in chocolate then set each dipped breadstick aside on the cookie sheet. (Make sure they’re far enough apart that they won’t be stuck together.) While the chocolate is still drying, add sprinkles or decorations.

Allow the chocolate to harden, and you’re all set! You just made Fat Pocky. This recipe is definitely worth trying the next time you’re stressing over class snacks.
