You already love honey for the sweet flavor (it’s so good in breads and desserts). But it’s good for your body and health, too. The inexpensive, natural ingredient is a humectant, which means it pulls moisture out of the air and transfers it to your scalp for super shiny strands. There are plenty of ways to use honey for hair but we’ve narrowed it down to this must-try mask.
How Do You Make a Honey Hair Mask?
Here’s What You Need:
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, melted
Step 1: Mix it up
In a small dish (a ramekin will do!), mix the honey and melted coconut oil together until completely combined.
Pro Tip: While any coconut oil will work, your best choice is 100% extra virgin oil. That means that it’s pure coconut oil and doesn’t have any chemical additives.
Step 2: Apply the mask
Work the mixture through damp hair, making sure to coat every strand from root to tip. Leave the mask on for about 20 minutes.
Step 3: Rinse
After the 20 minutes are up, rinse your hair thoroughly with water until all of the mixture is removed. Then, wash your hair per your usual routine with shampoo and conditioner. And voila! Touchable tresses for days.

Is Honey Safe for Hair?
Absolutely! It’s completely natural and full of good-for-you antioxidants that help keep your hair healthy. However, we DON’T recommend putting straight honey directly on your strands. It’s super sticky, making it difficult to rinse out. Always mix it with another ingredient first.
