Here’s Everything We Know About Meghan Markle’s Baby Shower So Far—Food Included

In case you haven’t heard the news, the Duchess of Sussex is pregnant! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are patiently awaiting the arrival of their first child less than a year after getting married. While there are foods that Meghan Markle can’t eat while pregnant, there are a few things that she can have, which she definitely enjoyed at her recent baby shower in New York City!

What was on the menu?

Although the official menu for this soiree hasn’t been revealed yet, a few details have surfaced about this charming afternoon. It has been reported by multiple sources that Jean George Vongerichten, a Michelin-star chef and head chef of The Mark’s restaurant, provided desserts for the event. There are also photos floating around of a cotton candy machine that was carted into the hotel, and even some macaroons from the famous Ladurée were rumored to be served. Psst! Here’s how to make macarons at home.

The desserts that have been confirmed were an array of sugar cookies with delightful royal icing. Daniel Martin (one of the shower attendees) posted a photo to his Instagram of three adorable cookies. One with a baby rattle, one with a stork holding a child and one with a baby bib that says “baby” on it. Get our royal icing tips here.

Sounds like quite a spread, but it doesn’t sound like Meghan’s guilty-pleasure food was on the menu!

Who was there?

Though People magazine reported that this baby shower was an “intimate gathering” with close friends, ranging from school peers to former acting colleagues, there were certainly a few names you’d recognize. Case in point: Serena Williams threw the shower. Amal Clooney, Gayle King and Abigail Spencer former Suits co-star) also attended. According to an ABC News royals contributor, 15 guests were at the shower.

There were classy activities

Meghan’s shower included an activity as classy as the Duchess herself: Flower arrangements!

Lewis Miller posted a collage of photos announcing his services for the event, stating that he had fun teaching an “amazing” flower class at Meghan’s shower. The arrangements were donated and delivered by Repeat Roses to NYC neighbor organizations. Repeat Roses posted on Instagram that “the gesture of kindness brought smiles and emotional health boost” to cancer patients and behaviorally and medically fragile men. How sweet!
