This Restaurant Is Making Breakfast for First Responders Fighting California Wildfires

In troubling times, only the most courageous first responders work to save people and property. The California wildfires are roaring, and more than 8,000 firefighters are trying to extinguish the flames. These strong men and women have been fighting since the blaze started, and the owner of CiCi’s Cafe in Westlake Village wanted to do something to help.

On Monday at 6 a.m., the local restaurant opened its doors with a generous gesture for nearby firefighters, paramedics and police officers—breakfast on the house.

The owner of CiCi’s took to Instagram to extend the offer, encouraging any other local responders to claim a complimentary breakfast in the coming days. Let’s face it, being an all-around hero has to be hungry work!

“CiCi’s restaurant in Westlake Village is so grateful to all the first responders for everything they’ve done and continue to do to save lives and properties,” reads the Instagram post. “We feel honored to be able to offer something back to them. All firefighter[s], police officers and paramedics please stop by for a meal on us for the next few days!”

Here’s one more bit of proof that restaurant folk have good hearts. See what Guy Fieri has done for firefighters in California. And what José Andrés did for hurricane victims in Puerto Rico.

Why CiCi’s Cafe Is Making Breakfast

The owner of CiCi’s Cafe—that’s CiCi herself—was honored that she could do something. “It is very important, because, you know, they make us safe. They take care of the property. They save people’s life days and nights,” CiCi explained to reporters. “I want to be part of it, I want to say thank you, and I want to support them because they are so good to us.”

The restaurant in Westlake Village is CiCi’s Cafe’s second location; the first opened in Tarzana, California, back in 2006. The award-winning restaurant serves what might be the best brunch in Los Angeles, so it’s a welcome treat for hungry firefighters.

To help the cause in California, you can support the American Red Cross or make a donation to the California Wildlife Relief Fund. Both organizations help those affected by the blazes.
